Description

Quality Improvement Coordinator

  • Performs internal audits of medical records and reports the information to various stakeholders within the system.  This information will be used to develop strategies for improvements.
  • Ensures compliance on a department level with operational policies and procedures.
  • Assists in establishing specific indicators for review at the corporate level;
  • Audits personnel in the field providing feedback to personnel, Administrative staff, and the operational program.
  • Educating personnel of the patient care team, and others, regarding documentation guidelines;
  • Functions as the primary contact for the personnel in matters of quality assurance affecting patient care.
  • Maintains records and security of such records.
  • Prepares reports, completes required paperwork, and informational bulletins for field personnel;
  • Provides assistance to other committees as needed;
  • Performs duties as assigned to their department.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Be currently certified/licensed as a Paramedic or Registered Nurse.
  • Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association;
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association;
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association;
  • 2 years of clinical experience in the pre-hospital or hospital setting;
  • Residing or willing to relocate to work at the Hope, Arkansas Campus;
Knowledge Base:
  • Working knowledge of QA/QI techniques;
  • Working knowledge of ZOLL TabletPCR and WebPCR basic features is preferred;
  • Ability to assist in the development of plans, reports, presentations;
  • Knowledge of basic features of Microsoft Word, and Excel;
  • Knowledge of all aspects of Emergency Medical Services to include the First Responder or Emergency Medical Responder, through the EMT-Paramedic.
  • Knowledge of Pathophysiology, assessment and management modalities of medical conditions of disease common to adults and children;
  • Knowledge of trauma systems, STEMI and Stroke protocols
  • The process of disease transmission and infection control;
  • The assessment and management of various types of trauma;
 
Ability to:
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute training programs;
  • Recognize potential medical/legal risk situations;
  • Develop and implement long and short-range goals and objectives;
  • Observe and evaluate trends in EMS;
  • Provide direction or instruction to other staff members;
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and co-workers;
  • Travel as needed for education, training, presentation purposes;
Performance Aptitudes:
  • Physical Ability:  Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort including but not limited to, lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, etc. of objects and materials of light weight (up to 50lbs).  Tasks may involve extended periods of time in seated position and at a keyboard or workstation.  Tasks require visual and muscular dexterity to operate equipment and two-way radio.
  • Project Management: Tasks require the ability to schedule, coordinate, and manage various projects of varying degrees of difficulty, size and complexity;
  • Social and Interpersonal Communication Skills:  Position requires professional social and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to function in a major organizational unit requiring significant internal and external interaction.
  • Reasoning:  Position required functional reasoning skills enabling the analysis of major problems that necessitate complex planning for interrelated activities that can span one or several work units.  Position requires situational reasoning skills allowing for the ability to exercise judgement, decisiveness and innovation in situations involving broader aspects of the organization.
  • Environmental Factors:  Most work is performed in a normal office or classroom environment, with occasional exposure to dust, noise, inclement weather, and temperature extremes.
