Job Description:

The Supply Chain & Logistics Specialist supports the operational readiness of EMS crews by ensuring timely procurement, stocking, distribution, and tracking of medical supplies, equipment, and medications. This role works closely with field staff, vendors, and warehouse teams to maintain proper inventory levels, comply with regulatory requirements, and ensure critical items are available when needed. The Supply Chain & Logistics Specialist plays a pivotal role in guaranteeing all tools needed by the frontline medical staff are accessible throughout each operation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

. Inventory & Stock Control

· Receive, inspect, and stock EMS medical supplies, equipment, and pharmaceuticals.

  • Maintain accurate inventory counts using inventory management software or manual logs.
  • Conduct routine checks to ensure expiration dates, lot numbers, and storage requirements are met.
  • Prepare supply kits and restock units in accordance with established EMS checklists.

Procurement & Ordering

  • Monitor usage trends and submit purchase requests to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Coordinate with approved vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Assist in resolving supply shortages, substitutions, and delivery issues.

Logistics & Distribution

  • Organize and distribute supplies to stations, units, and special event deployments.
  • Track shipments and deliveries to ensure on-time arrival.
  • Assist with equipment repairs, returns, and warranty claims.

 

Compliance & Safety

  • Follow all OSHA, DEA, and state health department guidelines for handling, storing, and disposing of medical supplies and medications.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe storage areas.
  • Document all supply movements for audit and compliance purposes.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with field crews to understand operational needs and priorities.
  • Provide clear communication to supervisors regarding supply status, shortages, and back-orders.
  • Support disaster response or surge events by preparing and mobilizing extra resources.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; some college or technical training preferred.
  • Prior experience in logistics, supply chain, or inventory control, ideally in healthcare or EMS.
  • Familiarity with medical equipment, EMS supplies, and pharmaceuticals a plus.
  • Basic computer skills; experience with inventory systems preferred.
  • Strong team work and communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Ability to lift and move boxes or equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work may require sitting, lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, and other physical exertion.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
