We offer a full range of inpatient and outpatient diagnostic services, as well as a 24-hour emergency department, an inpatient geriatric behavioral health unit, physical therapy, inpatient pharmacy services, and a Rural Health Clinic.

Southwest Arkansas Regional Medical Center is in search of an experienced Hospital Biller. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately preparing, submitting, and following up on hospital claims to Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and self-pay accounts. This position ensures compliance with state and federal billing regulations and plays a key role in maintaining the hospital’s financial stability by supporting timely reimbursement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely claims for inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and ancillary services.
  • Review claims for accuracy, appropriate coding, and compliance with payer-specific guidelines.
  • Monitor claim status, identify rejections/denials, and correct errors for resubmission.
  • Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts as required.
  • Work with patients, insurance companies, and internal departments to resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Maintain knowledge of Medicare Critical Access Hospital billing requirements, including cost reporting, swing-bed billing, and outpatient method II billing (if applicable).
  • Assist with daily, weekly, and month-end billing and reconciliation processes.
  • Respond promptly to patient inquiries regarding bills and balances, providing clear and professional communication.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports related to billing activities.
  • Support Revenue Cycle and Business Office staff with projects or audits as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and hospital confidentiality policies

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of billing experience in a hospital setting required.
  • Experience in Critical Access Hospital billing and knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid guidelines are strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of hospital billing practices, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and UB-04 claim forms.
  • Familiarity with Medicare Critical Access Hospital reimbursement requirements.
  • Proficiency with billing software, electronic health records (EHR), and clearinghouse systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Associate degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field preferred.
