Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Medical Wheelchair Van Driver is primarily responsible for transporting patients to and from the locations as deemed necessary to receive medical treatment, to outside appointments, and as requested by the Communications Center and/or Transportation Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS:
   
  •     Valid Driver's License with clear driving history
  •     Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  •     Ability to listen and comprehend spoken/written word
  •     Ability to maintain effective working relationships
  •     Minimum age requirement of twenty one
  •     Must be a U.S. citizen
  •     Must pass criminal background check

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  •     High School diploma or GED
  •     CPR Certified (within 30 days of employment)
  •     First Aid Certification (within 30 days of employment)
  •     Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (CEVO) (within 30 days of employment)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Visual acuity meeting the vision requirements as set forth by the Department / Division of Motor
  • Vehicles in the state which they will be performing their official duties (Also applies to those with out of state  drivers licenses)
  • Must be capable of consistently lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds
  • Capable of pulling or pushing the client in a wheelchair up to 350-pounds.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work may require sitting, lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, and other physical exertion.
  • Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
