Job Title: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manages patients airway or pulmonary status using techniques such as endotracheal intubation and extubation,
mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, and respiratory therapy.
• Selects, prepares, or uses equipment, monitors, supplies, or drugs for the administration of anesthetics.
• Selects, orders, and administers anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids or blood products.
• Performs pre-anesthetic screenings including physical evaluations and patient interviews, and documents results.
Monitors patients responses including skin color, pupil dilation, pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration,
ventilation, or urine output using invasive and noninvasive techniques.
• Responds to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering emergency fluids or drugs, or
using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
• Develops anesthesia care plans.
• Obtains informed consent from patients for anesthesia procedures.
• Assesses patients medical histories to predict anesthesia response.
• Performs and evaluates the results of diagnostic tests such as electrocardiograms (EKGs).
• Performs or manages regional anesthetic techniques such as local, spinal, epidural, caudal, nerve blocks and
intravenous blocks.
• Evaluates patients post-surgical or post-anesthesia responses, taking appropriate corrective actions or requesting
consultation if complications occur. Administers post-anesthesia medications or fluids to support patients
cardiovascular systems.
• Provide complete patient assessment, including vital signs and pre-examination procedures. Gathers and
assesses objective and subjective data from the patient.
• Documents data and assessments in the patient record. May use a computer system and information technology
to ensure standard documentation, coding, and completion.
• Assists physicians in aspects of consultation, treatment, procedures, and follow-up care.
• Executing medical regimens and nursing interventions as appropriate for the setting and their competency.
• Patient health counseling and instruction, including meeting with families and caregivers.
• Operating medical equipment
• Maintaining medical supplies, inventory, and disposal.
• Ensures regulatory compliance with OSHA guidelines, CLIA regulations, HIPAA guidelines
• May use general office skills including keyboarding, office computer software, filing, answering telephones, email,
faxing, copying
• Excellent customer service skills are needed for interacting with patients, families, and caregivers.
• Maintains strict compliance with all rules and regulations set forth by the state and federal programs.
• May perform other related duties or task as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• Master’s Degree required
• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
• Board Certified by National Boards of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
• Current AHA BLS (CPR) or equivalent.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or equivalent
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Must possess current Hepatitis B, Tetanus vaccinations & other immunizations
• Ability to travel nationally without restriction (including U.S. Territories)
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing
exemplary customer service.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given,
prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
• Must be able to act as a professional ambassador for Pafford Medical Services; interacting with customers, clients,
governmental agencies and personnel as well as federal and state contractors.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other
federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local
standards.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Work may require sitting, near vision use for reading and computer use, lifting, stooping, bending, stretching,
walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, and other physical exertion.
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
• Must possess visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, perform accounting functions, operate a
computer terminal, operate a motor vehicle, and do extensive reading.
