Job Description:
The facilities worker is responsible for the renovation and repair of the buildings and associated systems and constructing additions thereto, installation of new equipment and repair of existing equipment, maintenance of the grounds, and general custodial care of the facility as assigned. A wide variety of skills is needed, including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, small engine mechanics, landscaping, and custodial.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Applying skills to the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds in all assigned areas of the construction trades.
• Maintaining assigned equipment in proper working order.
• Maintaining grounds, lawns, and sprinkler systems.
• Maintaining a proper inventory of equipment, supplies, and other necessary items required to perform duties assigned.
• Performing minor repairs to the facilities plumbing, electrical system, miscellaneous repairs of doors, windows, etc.
• Accepting and signing for deliveries made to the building when necessary.
• Maintaining security and safety systems.
• May perform related duties or tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Highschool Graduate or GED. Technical, trade, or vocational training preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Work may require sitting, near vision use for reading and computer use, lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, and other physical exertion.
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
• Must possess visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, perform accounting functions, operate a computer terminal, operate a motor vehicle, and do extensive reading.
